The Borghese Gallery is at Piazzale Scipione Borghese 5, inside Villa Borghese park, on the park's eastern side by Via Pinciana. No metro station is next to it. The simplest ways in are a bus to the "Pinciana/Museo Borghese" stop (910 or 92 from Termini; 63, 83, 52 or 53 from Barberini), or metro line A to Spagna and a walk of about 1.1 km, roughly 15 minutes. One ATAC BIT ticket, €1.50, covers 100 minutes of buses and one metro ride. Aim to be at the entrance 15 minutes before your slot: the museum lets each group in only at the start of the hour.
Step by step
- 1
Buy one ATAC BIT ticket (€1.50) or tap a contactless card.
The BIT is valid for 100 minutes from first validation: unlimited buses and trams and one metro ride. ATAC's Tap & Go lets you tap a contactless bank card or phone on the reader instead, at the same fare.
- 2
From Termini, take bus 910 (towards Mancini) or 92 (towards Marliana).
Get off at Pinciana/Museo Borghese. This is the route the museum's own Visit page gives from Termini.
- 3
From Barberini (metro A), take bus 63, 83, 52 or 53.
Get off at Pinciana/Museo Borghese. Buses 61 and 160 from Barberini stop at S. Paolo del Brasile instead, on the other side of the gallery. From Spagna the museum suggests one stop on metro A towards Anagnina to Barberini, then these buses.
- 4
From Flaminio (metro A), take bus 89, 490, 495, 61 or 160 to S. Paolo del Brasile.
Or walk up through the park: about 1.7 km, around 23 minutes (OpenStreetMap estimate). From Tiburtina (metro B), buses 490 and 495 also run to S. Paolo del Brasile.
- 5
Or walk from Spagna metro, about 1.1 km.
About 15 minutes on foot (OpenStreetMap estimate: 1,060 m).
- 6
Go to the entrance on Piazzale Scipione Borghese, 15 minutes before your slot.
Ticket office, cloakroom, café and toilets are on the lower floor. Bags larger than 21 x 15 cm go in the cloakroom, so allow time for it. Partner meeting points are on your voucher; the reserved-entry ticket meets in front of the museum entrance. Step-free entry is by the rear entrance at Piazzale Scipione Borghese 5.
Tips
- Arrive 15 minutes before your slot: the partner listings ask for it, and entry is only at the start of each hour.
- Leave large bags and suitcases at your hotel: the cloakroom takes only cabin-size trolleys, with no guarantee of space.
- From Termini, buses 910 and 92 stop at Pinciana/Museo Borghese, the stop nearest the gallery.
- Taxis wait at stands on Via Pinciana and on Via Vittorio Veneto at Villa Borghese.
- Cars cannot drive into the park: only authorised vehicles are allowed inside.
