Borghese Gallery Tickets

Borghese Gallery Tickets: Every Ticket and Tour Compared

Borghese Gallery tickets are timed: every visit, free ones included, needs a booked slot, and each slot lets you stay two hours. The official ticket costs €18 (€16 plus a €2 booking fee), about $20, and is the cheapest way in, but it cannot be refunded and slots sell out. The seven options below are sold by booking partners: reserved entry tickets from $44, guided tours from $55, and two ways to see the Villa Borghese park around the gallery. All seven can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before. Pick your type first, then book as soon as your Rome dates are fixed.

Entry tickets: a reserved slot, with or without an audio guide

A reserved entry ticket gets you into the gallery in your chosen hour for the full two-hour slot, and a host hands over the ticket outside. The museum says there is no fast-track lane: everyone enters at the start of the hour, so what you buy is a confirmed slot and free cancellation, not a shorter queue. The ticket with audio guide costs $44, the plain skip-the-line ticket $46.

Guided tours of the gallery

A guided tour fills your two-hour slot with a guide who plans the route through the 20 rooms and explains the works, entry ticket included. The art historian tour costs $55 in five languages; the gallery and gardens tour adds a guided walk in the park for $60, in groups of 15 at most; the private tour gives your group its own guide, priced at checkout.

In Villa Borghese park: bikes and boats

The Villa Borghese park around the gallery is free to enter and needs no ticket. These two experiences are for the park, not the gallery, and neither includes gallery entry: a 2.5-hour guided e-bike tour to the Pincio, the lake and Piazza di Siena for $67, and a rowing boat on the lake with a photographer for $70. Walk-up boat hire on the lake costs far less; the boats page explains both.

What every option includes

  • ✓ Every gallery option includes the entry ticket; you never need a separate official ticket as well
  • ✓ Every gallery visit is a timed slot of two hours (1 hour 15 minutes for the 5.45 pm slot), with at most 180 people per slot
  • ✓ Bags larger than 21 x 15 cm go in the free cloakroom at the entrance; only cabin-size trolleys are accepted, with no guarantee
  • ✓ Ratings are the GetYourGuide scores of each listing, not of this site

Do you need a ticket? Yes, for a timed two-hour slot

Booking is required for every ticket at the Borghese Gallery, including the free ones for under-18s. Entry runs by the hour from 9 am to 5 pm, plus a last slot at 5.45 pm, Tuesday to Sunday; the gallery is closed on Mondays, 25 December and 1 January. Each slot takes up to 180 people and lasts two hours. The park around it, Villa Borghese, is free and needs no ticket. See the full schedule on the opening hours page.

What each ticket type costs in USD

The official full-price ticket is €18 (€16 plus a €2 booking fee), about $20. Partner tickets cost more because they add free cancellation, a host and often a guide: from $44 for a ticket with audio guide to $60 for the gallery and gardens tour. The museum says prices may rise during temporary exhibitions. The free and reduced official tickets apply to EU citizens and residents, and to countries with reciprocal terms. Every price, category by category, is on the Borghese Gallery ticket price page.

  • Official full price — €18 (€16 + €2 fee), about $20
  • Official last slot, 5.45 pm — €13 (€11 + €2 fee), about $15
  • Official, ages 18 to 25 (EU) — €4 (€2 + €2 fee), about $4
  • Official, under 18 (EU) — Free, plus the €2 fee (about $2)
  • Official guided tour — €8 on top of the ticket: €26 in all, about $29
  • Partner tickets and tours — $44 to $73 for the gallery; $67 and $70 in the park

Official ticket office or booking partner?

Buy official if a slot is free on your date and your plans are fixed: it is the cheapest ticket, sold on the museum's site, by phone on +39 06 32810 (Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 6 pm) or at the ticket office. Official tickets cannot be changed or refunded, and you can buy at most five at a time. Buy from a partner if the official calendar is full or you want to cancel free up to 24 hours before; you pay more for that. Neither gets you in faster: the museum says there is no fast-track ticket. The full comparison is on official site or booking partner.

When tickets sell out and how far ahead to book

Slots sell out because each one holds only 180 people. On 27 October 2026 the skip-the-line ticket on this page was flagged likely to sell out, and in the latest reviews of two listings here, two visitors had bought a partner ticket after the museum itself had sold out. Tickets for the free first Sunday of the month (and 25 April, 2 June and 4 November) go on sale 10 days before. If everything is gone, the museum sells a few last-minute tickets from minute 20 of each hour, with a shorter visit and long waits. Book once your dates are fixed; see what to do when tickets are sold out.

Which ticket to pick

Most first-time visitors are best served by the ticket with audio guide: the lowest price here, your own pace and free cancellation. Pick the guided tour if you want the stories behind the works, and the gallery and gardens tour if you also want the park explained. The private tour suits families and anyone needing Spanish or Italian. In the park, the e-bike tour has the highest rating on this site.

  • Cheapest way in — Official ticket at €18 (about $20) when a slot is free
  • Lowest price with free cancellation — Ticket with audio guide, $44, 4.6 from 2,750 reviews
  • Highest-rated gallery tour here — Guided tour, $55, 4.8 from 2,258 reviews
  • Gallery plus the park — Gallery and gardens tour, $60, max 15
  • Your own guide — Private tour, priced at checkout

How booking works

Pick an option above, open its page and choose a date and time; payment and the ticket are handled by the booking partner, and every option here can be reserved now and paid later. For a gallery option, arrive 15 minutes before your hour at Piazzale del Museo Borghese, inside Villa Borghese park; the nearest bus stop is Pinciana/Museo Borghese on Via Pinciana. This site may earn a commission on bookings at no extra cost to you.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Borghese Gallery tickets at the door?

Only as a fallback. The museum sells a limited number of last-minute tickets from minute 20 of each hour, for a 1 hour 30 minute visit, at most 2 per person, and waits can be long. None are sold on free days. Book ahead whenever you can.

What happens on the day?

Arrive 15 minutes early, collect your ticket from the partner's host if you booked one, and leave bags larger than 21 x 15 cm in the free cloakroom. Everyone in your slot enters at the start of the hour, and you have two hours inside.

Can I get a refund?

Official tickets cannot be changed or refunded. All seven partner tickets and tours on this page can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before the start.

Do children need a ticket?

Yes, every visitor needs a booked slot. Under-18s from the EU enter free but pay the €2 booking fee; children up to 5 are exempt from the fee. On a partner ticket, check the age options at checkout; several tours do not allow strollers.

Is the Borghese Gallery included in the Roma Pass?

Yes, in the Roma Pass 48 hours and 72 hours. You still have to reserve a slot by phone on +39 06 32810 or on the museum's site, paying the €2 booking fee, and show the card at the ticket office. Read how to book with the Roma Pass.

How long does a visit take?

Two hours, the length of every slot; the 5.45 pm slot lasts 1 hour 15 minutes. Guided tours run two hours, and the gallery and gardens tour 2.5 hours.
