Borghese Gallery Official Site vs Resellers: Where to Buy

Updated October 27, 2026

Verdict

Buy on the official site if a slot is free for your date and your plans are fixed: at €18 (€16 + €2 booking fee), about $20, nobody sells the same entry for less. Choose a booking partner if the official calendar is sold out, the site will not load, or you want the right to cancel: partner tickets start at $44–$46 and can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before, while official tickets cannot be refunded or changed.

The Borghese Gallery's official site is galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it, run by the museum under Italy's Ministry of Culture. The old addresses lead there: galleriaborghese.it redirects to it, and galleriaborghese.beniculturali.it no longer works. Tickets bought from the official site are processed by the ticketing company TOSC / TicketOne, and the museum also sells by phone on +39 06 32810. This site is not official: it is an independent guide that earns a commission when you book through a partner. Below, the official channel and the partner tickets side by side, and what to do when the official site is down or sold out.

Which site is official

The official site is galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it. Typing galleriaborghese.it sends you there with a permanent redirect. The older galleriaborghese.beniculturali.it no longer resolves, so links to it from old guidebooks and forum posts are dead. Ticket sales on the official site run through TOSC / TicketOne, so a TicketOne page for the Borghese is part of the official channel. The other official channel is the museum's call centre, +39 06 32810, Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 6 pm.

What the official site sells and its fee

One ticket type for each age group, each for a timed two-hour slot: full price €16 plus a mandatory €2 booking fee (€18, about $20); the 5.45 pm slot €11 + €2; ages 18–25 €2 + €2; under 18 free + €2. The reduced and free prices apply to EU citizens, citizens of countries with reciprocity agreements and holders of an Italian residence permit. Prices can rise during temporary exhibitions. You can buy at most 5 tickets at a time, and bought tickets cannot be changed or refunded unless you add the optional ticket insurance offered at checkout. The museum's own guided tour costs €8 on top of the ticket.

When the official site is down or sold out

Three things send visitors looking for another seller: the site does not load, the calendar is full, or the date is less than a few days away.

  • Site not loading — On 27 October 2026 the official site refused connections when we checked. Try again later, or call +39 06 32810 on weekdays.
  • Slots sold out — Booking is mandatory for every ticket, so a full calendar means no entry that hour. Booking partner listings show their own calendar, so check it for your date.
  • Last-minute tickets — The ticket office sells a few same-day tickets from minute 20 of each hour, for a 1 hour 30 minute visit, at most 2 per person, with no guarantee. None are sold on free days.
  • Free Sundays — Tickets for the free first Sunday (and 25 April, 2 June, 4 November) go on sale 10 days before; the €2 fee still applies.

What a booking partner adds

A partner ticket gets you the same timed slot through the same door. What changes: you can cancel free up to 24 hours before (all seven tickets and tours this site lists say so on their listing), you can reserve now and pay later, and some add an audio guide or a live guide. The reserved-entry ticket from $46 is rated 4.4 from 499 reviews of this ticket on GetYourGuide; the entry with audio guide from $44 is rated 4.6 from 2,750 reviews of that ticket. You pay more than at the official office for that flexibility.

How to spot an unofficial reseller

Reselling is legal, but some resellers dress up as the museum. Four checks before you pay:

  • The price is above €18 — Any adult ticket above €16 + €2 is a resale, whatever the page says. The museum says it is not responsible for surcharged tickets sold by others.
  • The word 'official' on another domain — The only official domain is galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it. A different address calling itself official is a reseller.
  • A 'fast-track' promise — The museum says there is no fast-track ticket: everyone enters at the start of their hour. 'Skip the line' on a listing means a reserved slot and ticket collection handled for you.
  • No named seller or refund terms — A safe partner names who runs the ticket and states the cancellation rule before you pay.
