Can you use the Roma Pass at the Borghese Gallery?

Updated October 27, 2026

Quick answer

Yes. The Borghese Gallery accepts the Roma Pass 48 hours and 72 hours, and it can be one of the pass's free entries. You still have to book a timed slot in advance and pay the €2 booking fee (about $2), then show the pass at the ticket office.

The Roma Pass 48 hours gives free entry to the first museum or site you visit and the 72 hours to the first two; after that you pay a reduced rate, which at the Borghese is €7.50 (about $8) plus the €2 fee instead of €16 plus €2. Both passes also cover Rome's public transport from the first validation, except connections to and from Fiumicino airport.

Is the Borghese included?

Yes. The museum lists both the 48-hour and the 72-hour Roma Pass among its accepted cards. Make the Borghese one of your free entries if you can: the full ticket is €16 (about $18), so a free entry here saves €16, against full prices of €6 to €18 at the other paying sites on the Roma Pass list.

  • Roma Pass 48 hours — First museum or site free; reduced rate after; public transport for 48 hours
  • Roma Pass 72 hours — First two museums or sites free; reduced rate after; public transport for 72 hours
  • Borghese with the pass, after the free entries — €7.50 + €2 booking fee = €9.50 (about $11)

You still need a reservation

The pass is not a way in by itself. The Borghese runs on booked two-hour slots of at most 180 people, and the museum says reservation is obligatory for Roma Pass holders too. The €2 booking fee is paid when you book. If you turn up with only the pass and no booking, you are in the same position as anyone without a ticket: a few last-minute tickets at the office, with no guarantee.

How to book with the pass

Book before you go, then validate the pass at the museum.

  • By phone — +39 06 32810, Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 6 pm
  • Online — On the Roma Pass booking page (romapass.ticketone.it) or the museum's official site
  • When — The Roma Pass FAQ advises at least 10 days ahead, 20 days in high season
  • On the day — Collect the booking and show your Roma Pass at the ticket office on the lower floor

When a pass beats a ticket

A pass pays off when the entries and transport you actually use add up to more than its price, so count your plan before you buy. It does not help if the Borghese slots for your dates are gone, because the pass needs a booked slot like any ticket. Under-18s and EU visitors aged 18 to 25 already pay little or nothing at the Borghese (free or €2 plus the €2 fee), so for them a pass adds little here. If you cannot get a slot with the pass, partner tickets with free cancellation up to 24 hours start at $44 on the Borghese Gallery tickets page, and the full price list compares every option.
